Kenyan tech developers will soon have a digital marketplace where they can host their applications thus significantly cutting down their time to market.
This was revealed by ATLANCIS Technologies CEO, Daniel Njuguna during a panel discussion on Technology as an Enabler for Development that was held on the final day of the just concluded Connected Kenya Summit 2018.
.
Through the Servernah Cloud Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform, we will be able to have a Digital Marketplace where we will host software solutions developed by partner organizations and individual innovators, and they will be readily available to the general public through the cloud.Hosting of these solutions will be done on a revenue share model and will be supported as part of our SaaS offerings– revealed Mr. Njuguna.
Atlancis is one of the Kenyan based private sector ICT players that supported the ICT Authority in the Connected Kenya Summit that was held between 22nd and 24th October, 2018 at the Bomas of Kenya. The Summit, which was billed as the biggest ICT platform in the region, brought together over 500 ICT thought leaders, experts and decision makers across the East African region under one roof to deliberate and provide ICT sector-related solutions.
Keeping in line with the Summit’s theme ‘Preserving our Heritage, Pioneering Technology’, Mr. Njuguna challenged Kenya ICT companies to focus more on innovating their own products that are customized to the unique needs of Kenyans as opposed to merely becoming conduits for imported technologies. “For Kenyan IT companies to remain sustainable for the next foreseeable future, they must focus on innovation,” he advised. “That is why we have developed Servernah Cloud, the first self-service cloud to be developed by an African IT company and it is our desire to have all innovators benefit from this platform,” concluded Mr. Njuguna.
The Connected Summit was able to demonstrate that a number of Pan-African ICT solutions providers have come of age and are ready to take up the mantle of transforming Africa’s technological landscape.
